It took me 26 minutes to install and configure and another 7 minutes to configure the views and UAC the way I like it. A+.
I really like the new taskbar. Now, I wasn't a Vista hater (I like Vista) but I like 7 more from what I have seen so far.
Google Chrome doesn't work. Sad day.
IE8 doesnt have Spell Check.
IE8's tabs load way too slow. I always miss a letter on the address because it takes too long to load.
It boots fast. Really fast. (Edit: It isn't any faster than Vista)
(Edit: My gadgets didn't save!)

I did a fresh install on a seperate drive - I would NOT recommend doing an update. Also, the installer won't let you partition, you have to do it in advance (so I guess the 26 minute install was actally about 30 minutes after trying to partition and adding a HD) Dual boot is fine as usual.

Way to go on the server overload, Microsoft. I expect it from Woot! but not from you.
Way to not be compatible with other browsers, Microsoft. Well... to Microsoft's credit, it did work on Firefox, but Google Chrome just kind of sat there and waited for something to happen. Nothing did.
Way to have a fast download, Microsoft. This one is actually legit. I downloaded the 3.something GB file in just about 3 hours. For once I was the limiting factor! Nice.
Every time I tried to download, the page would reload and I would have a new key. I probably have about 9 of um.

Other then that the DVD is still burning. Will update Wednesdayish, have too much work until then.

I'm not really sure what high level executives are thinking at NBC, but if you want to do a hidden camera show, don't show the reveals in the previews (THOSE ARE THE BEST PART!) The show isn't funny because we know what happens before the commercial before the segment.

Same thing with Biggest Loser. One time I timed it, and 3.4 out of every 10 minutes is legit. Everything else is "Here is what you just saw" "Here is what you are going to see" or commercials. Thanks to the "Here is what you are going to see" only 5-10 minutes of the two hour show are worth watching.

How I Got Arrested at SeaTac

Well now that I got your attention, I didn't actually get arrested. I was going through the security line and the TSA dude pulled my backpack out from the XRay and asked if he could look at it. Like the pawn I am, I said yes. He looked in my middle pocket and zipped it up. He opened my big pocket and pulled out my colaander (which has a metal handle) he laughed and showed the other TSA people, who all got a kick out of it. They just couldn't figure out what it was. I found it very surprising that they'd never seen a 23 year old with a colander in his laptop bag.

A Leap Second

So the world isn't perfect. No big news there. In fact, it is so imperfect that it doesn't travel as fast as it did yesterday. To compensate for the Earth's mediocracy, we have added a leap second at the end of the year. This isn't an uncommon thing; the last one was in 2005. Unlike leap years, however, they don't come at regular intervals.

Cherish your leap second, you never know when the next one will creep up on you. Where will you be for yours?

Well today was good. Mommo and Jack are still alive, we got snow but then it turned to slush (so we could have a White Xmas and still drive - yay) and I got two colanders. Normally, I consider it a good Xmas when I get one colander, but two?! That is just out of this world.

Funny Mommo Story:

Mommo: Did you talk to Susan today?
David: *puzzled look* Susan?
M: Your lady friend. What's her name?
D: Kendra.
M: *laughs*

I walk away to wash my hands at the sink.

M: *to herself* Kimberly... Kimber-
D: Kendra, Mommo.

M: OH! KENdra.

I just don't think she has ever heard the name Kendra before, nevermind that Mommo met Kendra in October. Granted, according to NameVoyager, the name didn't come into existance until the 40's, and didn't really take off until the mid 70's.

Yiggity yo. I had eye surgery today and they gave me a Xanax. Did you know that Sarah Palin got Lasik and her glasses are just for show? Not even kidding you. I hate two things in this world. Greg and I were going to go to Chinese food for lunch today but decided that we didn't want to stop for cash, so instead we went to Pizza Hut for lunch. There were 2 big parties of 15+, so our food took a while. It was yummy, but we needed to go boxes. We got out check and went up to the register to pay. Oops, computers down. Only cash and check. Fuck. I thought I had my check book in my car but I didnt. The lady there told us it was on her, so we left her an $8 tip.

David vs. Verizon, day 2: David vs. Linda

Well, called Verizon again, because Joel and I discovered that the "Line 1 Ring" signal is weak, which is why our phone doesn't work. So I called them up again and got a different automated system. Odd. No problem.

Verizon Automated System: What is the trouble?
Me: Don't work.
VAS: People are having trouble calling you?
Me: Exactly!

At least they know their service sucks. I tell it I want a real person. It says no, you must deal with me. Fine. After a few more questions, VAS gives up, and transfers me to a real person. After a few minutes of holding, I get Linda, a perky lass from America. She is clearly underpaid, undertrained, and she works for a company whose service doesn't work. I tell her my problem.

Me: The Line 1 Ring signal is weak and my phone doesn't ring.
Linda: I'm sorry, I don't know what that means.
Me: It means that I have a weak signal on my Ring line.
Linda: Sir, I've never heard of that. Are you saying your phone doesn't ring?
Me: Yes.
Linda: Ok can I get your address to confirm the account?
Me: *gives billing address*
Linda: I need the physical address, sir!
Me: *gives physical address*
Linda: Have you tried... *lists some stuff that a first grader would try*
Me: Yes.
Linda: Ok, well would you like to have someone come out? If they find nothing wrong, there will be a charge. Would you like to hear a list of these charges?
Me: No, beacuse the problem isn't on our end.
Linda: When are your business hours?
Me: We can be there whenever.
Linda: When are your business hours, sir?!
Me: 6 AM to 6 PM.
Linda: Is that M-F, 7 Days a week, what?
Me: Everyday. 7 Days a week.
Linda: Ok someone will be out before noon tomorrw.. *gets some info and stuff*
Me: Bye.

Linda was dumb. I think if this isn't solved by noon tomorrow, I'm going to cancel our account and just get a SkypeIn number. Fuck um.

... in my front yard? Weird. My back yard is kind of a shit hole (except for the fire pit, different kind of hole) and I hate to mow it, but I do love to mow the front yard.

I called Verizon today because they suck and I want some money back, and I was on hold for 5 minutes, got some lady that was glad to help me out. Good. Wait - no, we got disconnected. Fuck. Called back. No hold. Good. Wait - no, she was an imbecile. She started off pretty standard, how are you doing today? I mentioned it was a little humid today. Bad mistake. I got fifteen (yes, I'm not making this up) minutes of her life story, between how she went to the drug store yesterday and then it rained, to the fact she was wearing a light jacket because she didn't know what the weather was supposed to be like.

After all of that, at least she helped me.

Wait, no. She couldn't help me and so I just got upset and hung up. Lucky for her I'm in a really good mood today.

In case you missed it, we are in a state of emergency for all of the flooding. Thankfully, I'm 100% dry, but HTA had a couple feet and Tom got hit real hard. Today I will be going out to help Tom in any way that I can so we'll see how that goes. Luckily, he has a wonderful insurance agent (Tom).
